Bronco test was introduced by BCCI recently.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently conducted fitness tests of Indian players at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. Many senior players in Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Shubman Gill, along with young guns, were seen taking the tests ahead of the packed season.
According to reports by The Times of India, the Branco test was not part of the recent fitness tests. The players underwent basic health check-ups, regular mobility tests, and the yo-yo test. The Branco test, used in the sport of Rugby, was recently introduced by the BCCI during the England series.
The move was suggested by the Indian Cricket Team’s strength and conditioning coach, Adrian le Roux. Under the Branco test, a player starts with a 20-metre run, followed by a 40-metre run and a 60-metre run. This constitutes one set. A player has to do five such sets, which adds up to 1200 metres without taking a break.
