Pooja Vastrakar picked 4/53 for India Women in the first innings against Australia Women.

India and Australia women are engaged in the one-off Test match being played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai from December 21, 2023. Australia have never lost a Women’s Test to India and all of their last four Tests in India have ended as draws.

India were asked to bowl first after new Australia captain Alyssa Healy won the toss. The seam bowlers get movement early on at the Wankhede and Vastrakar made full use of the help.

Phoebe Litchfield earned a diamond duck after being run out in the first over itself. And then Indian pacer Pooja Vastrakar gave the hosts a huge jolt as she removed one of the best all-rounders in women’s cricket, Ellyse Perry for a duck.

Vastrakar made the ball swing and seam and on the 4th ball of the second over of the match, made one move into the batter sharply. She made Perry come onto the front foot, and she left a big gap between her bat and pad and the ball rattled her stumps after nipping back off the seam.

Ellyse Perry could only plod back, acknowledging that she had gotten a real ripper. Pooja Vastrakar was naturally overjoyed and was surrounded by her teammates, who were aware of the magnitude of the wicket.
