Pratika Rawal recently became the joint-fastest to 1,000 runs in Women’s ODI cricket.
India opener Pratika Rawal has been ruled out of the rest of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 tournament after suffering a serious ankle injury, Cricbuzz has reported.
Rawal suffered an ankle injury against Bangladesh in the tournament’s last league game on Sunday (October 26). Rawal stumbled and fell awkwardly in the field while fielding near the boundary ropes during the rain-soaked match at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.
Coming to the game, the ground was soaked as continuous rains had peppered the venue at intermittent intervals. The game was reduced to 43 overs per side. There were large puddles on unprotected areas of both the offside and inside fields because only the main square and the extended patches at each end of the wicket had been covered during both rain breaks.
Rawal fell while running towards deep mid-wicket when her right foot felt stuck in the turf as she tried to turn back after overrunning to save an eventual boundary.
Wincing in pain, she was taken off the field by the team’s support crew and did not return for the rest of India’s bowling innings or to commence the chase in the game, which was eventually abandoned.

Following the game, which ended without a result, the 25-year-old received scans and was set to meet with an impartial doctor for her official reports. It is a significant blow to India ahead of their semifinal clash against Australia at the same venue on Thursday (October 30).
Rawal, who debuted for India in December 2024, has had an outstanding first year in international cricket. She scored her first World Cup century in the preceding match against New Zealand.
In the process, she became the joint-fastest to 1000 runs in women’s ODIs and was on the verge of being only the second player to score 1000 runs in a calendar year before being injured.
Richa Ghosh’s fitness gives the Indian team concerns ahead of the semi-final against Australia
The Indian team is also concerned about the health of keeper-bat Richa Ghosh, who was rested for the Bangladesh match after suffering a blow to her finger during the New Zealand match. As a result, backup keeper Uma Chetry made his debut.
India are set to play Australia in the second semi-final of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 to be played at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on October 30.
When will semi-final 2 of ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, AUS vs IND, take place?
The second semi-final of ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 between Australia Women and India Women will be played on October 30.
