Nathan Lyon has asked the Australian batsman to score double centuries against India.

Veteran Australian spinner Nathan Lyon has given a bold and shocking prediction for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, which will be played in Australia from November 22.

Australia have not held the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for almost 10 years. They have lost the last four test series against India, including twice at home.

In the upcoming India vs Australia test series, while India will be looking to make a hat-trick of test series wins in Australia, the hosts are desperate to claim back the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and finally beat India after a long time.

Lyon, who was part of Australia’s previous test series victory over India in the 2014/15 home series, has backed his side to thump Rohit Sharma’s team by 5-0!

“It’s been 10 years since we have won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. I started thinking about this series when England were over in India, watching them to go about it. I love the game and I will watch a decent Test match but I have eyes on this series for a long time now. My prediction is 5-0 to Australia,” Lyon said on the ‘Willow Talk’ podcast.

We need big runs: Nathan Lyon

India’s previous two series wins in Australia were courtesy of sensational bowling performances from the pacers. The Indian bowlers regularly dismissed the host batsmen with very well-laid plans.

Lyon, who has the most wickets in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy history, has urged his batsmen to not be satisfied with just a century and convert their hundreds into a big score.

“We need big runs. We need the guys, who are talented enough to get the hundred. The likes of Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, and Travis Head, all the top order. I don’t want 101 or 107, I want 180 and 200,” Lyon added.
