South Africa spinner Prenelan Subrayen cleared to bowl again by the ICC after being reported for illegal bowling action

Prenelan Subrayen was reported for an illegal bowling action during the first match of the ODI series against Australia.
In what is a major relief for South Africa and Prenelan Subrayen, the spinner has received the clearance by the International Cricket Council (ICC) to bowl at international level once again. Hence, he can now make his comeback in the Proteas team from the next series itself.
South African spinner Prenelan Subrayen came under massive scrutiny after he was reported for an illegal bowling action. This came during the first match of the ODI series between Australia and the Proteas, which ended last month with the visitors winning.
Following that, Prenelan Subrayen left the squad and was asked to prove his bowling action. The spinner underwent an independent bowling assessment at the National Cricket Centre in Brisbane on August 26.
Prenelan Subrayen’s elbow extension while bowling was within the 15-degree level
During the examination, it was revealed that his elbow extension while bowling was within the 15-degree level of tolerance permitted under the ICC Illegal Bowling Regulations.
The ICC declared him fit to bowl at the international level, and he would be eager to make a return to the national setup. He has played just two games for South Africa at the International level, and there are chances that he might he back in the scheme of things.
Prenelan Subrayen has played one test so far, which came against Zimbabwe, and has picked four wickets so far. In one ODI, he has taken one wicket but was economical, giving only 46 runs in the 10 overs that he bowled.
Releasing the official statement, the ICC said: “South Africa spinner Prenelan Subrayen, who was reported for an illegal bowling action in the first game of the ODI series against Australia played last month, has been cleared by the world’s cricket governing body.”
South Africa had a staggering outing during their tour to Australia. After losing the T20I series by a margin of 2-1, they clinched the ODI series. The Proteas are currently locking horns with England in the ODI series, in which they have taken an unassailable lead of 2-0.
