Official! BCCI extends contract of head coach Rahul Dravid and support staff

It is still unclear for how long the contract of Rahul Dravid & co. has been extended by the BCCI.
Rahul Dravid has accepted the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) offer to extend his tenure as head coach of the Indian Cricket Team. Dravid has been retained as India’s head coach along with the support staff, Vikram Rathore as bBatting coach, T. Dilip as the fielding coach, and Paras Mhambrey as bowling coach of the team. Their contract ended after the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 final against Australia in Ahmedabad.
Earlier it was expected that Dravid might not opt for the extension as he wanted to spend more time with his family, but now Dravid has again been convinced by the board and he will be back in the Indian camp from the upcoming South Africa tour. India will be travelling to South Africa for a full-fledged tour consisting of three T20Is, three ODIs and two tests starting on 10th December. Dravid joined the Indian cricket team after the T20 World Cup 2021 in UAE.
Rahul thanks BCCI for placing trust
Head coach Rahul Dravid was elated to rejoin the Indian camp. Dravid said, “I thank the BCCI and the Office Bearers for placing their trust in me, endorsing my vision, and providing support during this period. The demands of this role necessitate considerable time away from home, and I deeply appreciate my family’s sacrifices and support.” There is no official update on how many months Dravid’s and support staff’s contract has been extended. It is likely that they will continue at least till the ICC T20 World Cup in July 2024.
Team India played two ICC event finals under Dravid’s coaching. Unfortunately, India lost the knockout games on each occasion. He shared that the last two years with the team was a memorable time for him. Dravid added, “I thank the BCCI and the Office Bearers for placing their trust in me, endorsing my vision, and providing support during this period. The demands of this role necessitate considerable time away from home, and I deeply appreciate my family’s sacrifices and support.”
BCCI president Roger Binny also welcomed Rahul Dravid back as head coach of the Indian cricket team, Binny said, “I extend appreciation to him not only for embracing the challenges but for thriving in them. The performances of the Indian Team are a testament to his strategic guidance. I am delighted that he accepted the offer to remain the Head Coach.” Dravid replaced Ravi Shastri as head coach of the Indian team in 2021.
