The IND vs ENG semi-final will take place on June 27 in Guyana.

In a repeat of the last edition’s semi-final in Adelaide, Rohit Sharma’s Team India will meet Jos Buttler’s England side in the semi-final at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. This highly-anticipated clash is slated for June 27 at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.

India blew all their three opponents away in the Super 8 round. They hammered Afghanistan and Bangladesh by 47 and 50 runs respectively and their most confidence-boosting victory came over Australia, by 24 runs, which played a huge role in Australia’s ouster from the tournament.

England also recorded some big wins in the Super 8 round – by eight wickets against West Indies and 10 wickets against the USA. However, they did suffer a seven-run loss against South Africa.

India and England have met four times at the ICC T20 World Cup, with both sides winning two encounters each.

In the first semi-final of the tournament, South Africa will take on Afghanistan on June 26 in Trinidad. However, the reserve day rules for both semi-finals are different because the SA vs AFG semi-final is a night game, while the IND vs ENG semi-final is a morning encounter.

Reserve day rule for IND vs ENG semi-final:

There is no reserve day for the semi-final between India and England, which will start at 10.30 am (8:00 pm IST, 02:30 PM GMT) on Thursday, June 27. Because there is only a single day’s gap between the second semi-final and the final, no reserve day has been allotted for this clash.

However, a total of 250 minutes of additional time is available on the matchday. For a semi-final to end in a result, a minimum of a 10-over game should be played.

If the semi-finals are washed out, then the teams that finished on top of their Super 8 standings (India and South Africa) will progress to the final. Further, if the final is abandoned then the two finalists will be declared as joint-winners.
