Last month, Rohit visited the BCCI facility for physical assessment tests. The 38-year-old is gearing up for the ODI series against Australia, scheduled to be played from October 19 to 25. He last played for India during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in March, where he led the team to trophy by defeating New Zealand in the final.

Earlier, there were reports that he might play for India A against Australia A in the unofficial ODI series. However, he was not named in the squad.
