IND vs BAN two-match test series will feature stars like Virat Kohli, Shakib Al Hasan and many more.

India and Bangladesh have faced each other in 13 test matches so far. The Indian cricket team have dominated Bangladesh by clinching 11 test victories, while two tests ended in draws. Bangladesh have never won a test match against India.

The upcoming two-match test series between the two nations will be played from September 19. Chennai will host the opening test, whereas the second match will be played in Kanpur. The series will be part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle.

Ahead of the IND vs BAN test series, let’s take a look at three batters who could be among the top run-scorers in this series.

IND vs BAN: Predicting the top three run-scorers in the test series

3. Yashasvi Jaiswal (India)

Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal made his test debut against the West Indies in July 2023. Since then, Jaiswal has risen rapidly in the longest format. The left-handed batter has made 1028 runs in nine tests at an astounding average of 68.53.

Jaiswal has also hit three centuries and four half centuries. Earlier this year, during the test series against England at home, the 22-year-old was the highest run-getter as he amassed over 700 runs.

Jaiswal is a serious contender to be the top run-scorer in the upcoming test series against Bangladesh.

2. Mushfiqur Rahim (Bangladesh)

Veteran wicket-keeper batter Mushfiqur Rahim is the highest run-getter for Bangladesh in test cricket. The right-handed batter likes to play against the Indian cricket team in the longest format – in eight matches, he’s scored 604 runs at an average of 43.14.

The right-handed batter has hit two centuries and two half centuries against the Indian side in tests till now. Recently, the wicket-keeper batter also played a match-winning knock of 191 runs against Pakistan in the first test match in Rawalpindi.

The 37-year-old Bangladeshi batter might become the leading run-scorer in the upcoming test series against the Indian cricket team.

1. Rohit Sharma (India)

India test and ODI captain Rohit Sharma has been in sensational form in 2024. When England toured India earlier this year, the 37-year-old Rohit was the fourth-highest run-getter with 400 runs in five matches.

However, Rohit’s record against Bangladesh in test cricket is a bit of a concern. In three matches, Rohit has just scored 33 runs at a poor average of 11 against Bangladesh.

Given Rohit’s current form, the veteran cricketer is a strong contender to become the highest run scorer in the upcoming two-match test series against Bangladesh.
