Watch: Shoriful Islam uproots Liam Livingstone's stumps to send him back on a golden duck
Shoriful Islam picked up 3 wickets in his 10 overs against England at HPCA Stadium.
England's top-order had a magnificent day at HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala against Bangladesh in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Dawid Malan’s (140) century, Joe Root's (82), and Jonny Bairstow’s (52) fifties have given their bowlers a solid score to defend. Bangladesh bowlers had a tough time bowling to English top- order and conceded above 7-8 runs per over. England will be a little disappointed to not score 400 runs after the start they got against in Dharamshala.
English lower-order in comparison to the top-order had a dismal day with the bat. They failed to carry on with the momentum and gave their wickets to bowlers. The stage looked set for Liam Livingstone as well, but he got a golden duck under his name in England’s innings. Livingston had the momentum to unleash a powerful attack on Bangladesh bowlers, but Shoriful Islam’s terrific final spell didn’t allow anyone to score freely.
Shoriful Islam's magical final spell:
In the 42nd over, left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam’s off-cutter stunned Liam Livingstone, who found his off stump rattled on the ground. Livingstone misread the line completely and was in shock for a while after losing his wicket to Bangladeshi pace bowler. Liam Livingstone was out without scoring a run while facing his first delivery of the game. Shoriful Islam had a magnificent final over spell and finished with figures of 3/75 in his 10 overs.

Shoriful Islam castled English skipper Jos Buttler (20) and Liam Livingstone (0) in his final spell. He also got Joe Root caught behind the wicket by Mushfiqur Rahim on 82. His three-wicket spell provided an opportunity for Bangladesh to come back in the final 10 overs of the game and restricted England to 30–40 runs less than they would have aimed for before the 40th over. Joe Root missed out on a century and was dismissed on 82 runs.
England lost their last seven wickets in the final 10 overs. Along with Shoriful Islam, spinner Mahedi Hasan did the most damage as he picked up four wickets in his eight overs. They both helped Bangladesh restrict England to 364 runs in 50 overs. England scored 66 runs in the final 10 overs and lost six wickets. Bangladesh requires 365 runs to win their second game of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. They defeated Afghanistan by six wickets in their first game.
