South Africa will start their campaign as one of the favourites to lift the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024.

The South Africa women’s cricket team lost the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 final by 19 runs against Australia in Cape Town and had their dreams shattered. The Proteas will enter the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 as one of the favourites.

This year’s edition will be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from October 3 to October 20. South Africa are placed in Group B along with the West Indies, England, Scotland, and Bangladesh.

Talking about their squad, veteran cricketer Laura Wolvaardt will lead the side in the ninth edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup. So far, South Africa have played 33 matches in the Women’s T20 World Cup. Out of these, they won 14 while they suffered 19 defeats.

South Africa’s campaign will kick off against the West Indies on October 4. Their second group-stage fixture is against England on October 7 and their third match is against Scotland on October 9. On October 12, they will have their final group stage fixture against Bangladesh.

If they finish at top of the Group B points table, they will qualify for the semi-finals.

South Africa’s first, third and fourth group stage matches will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. Their second game will be played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah.
