Spencer Johnson dismissed Afghanistan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz for a duck.
The 10th match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 between Afghanistan and Australia is underway at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
Afghanistan won the toss and opted to bat first, citing that the pitch would assist spinners in the second innings. Both teams have made no changes to their playing XI.
The game is crucial in the Group B semi-finals qualification race. A win for Australia will secure their semi-final spot alongside South Africa, while a win for Afghanistan will take them to the semi-finals.
Australia made a strong start in the contest as Spencer Johnson dismissed Afghanistan wicket-keeper batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz for a duck.
After bowling a couple of wides and struggling with his line and length, Johnson surprised Gurbaz with a yorker, sneaking through the gap between bat and pad. The dismissal reminded fans of Mitchell Starc who is known for rattling the stumps.
Despite picking up an early wicket, Johnson has struggled with discipline and has conceded over 10 runs in wides. Australia will expect better control from the left-armer if they aim to restrict Afghanistan to a low total.
