Suryakumar Yadav on path to full fitness after hernia surgery

In order to be in full fitness in time for the Asia Cup, Suryakumar Yadav is presently at the NCA, or more specifically, the Centre of Excellence (CoE). The India T20I captain recently reported to the Bengaluru facility of the BCCI for fitness evaluations and rehabilitation.
He was left out of West Zone’s Duleep Trophy squad, which Shardul Thakur would head, in part because of his rehabilitation process.
In June of this year, Suryakumar made his hernia surgery public and declared himself “on the road to recovery” following a successful procedure. He played for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, which was his final game.
Following his time in the IPL, Suryakumar visited the UK. He had an appointment with a sports hernia surgery specialist. He had previously had sports hernia surgery in 2024 and ankle surgery in 2023, making this his third surgery in three years.
Following India’s triumph in the ICC T20 World Cup in June 2024, Suryakumar assumed the role of captain in T20Is. Since then, he has spearheaded a hitting revolution, and his squad often surpasses 250 runs in games. With four tons, his T20I strike rate is 167.07.
