Suryakumar Yadav has been fined for slow over-rate, while Nitish Rana and Hrithik Shokeen are fined for being involved in a verbal spat.

The match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) that took place on 16th April at the Wankhede Stadium saw Suryakumar Yadav, Nitish Rana, and Hrithik Shokeen being fined for breaching the IPL's Code of Conduct.

MI's skipper for today's game, Suryakumar Yadav was fined for maintaining a slow over-rate. As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Suryakumar Yadav was fined Rs. 12 lakhs.

In an event that took place in the 9th over of the KKR's innings, the two Delhi teammates, Nitish Rana, and Hrithik Shokeen engaged in a verbal feud after the latter dismissed the former. On the very first ball of the 9th over, Nitish Rana perished to Hrithik's guile after trying to up the ante. It appeared that Hrithik while giving a send-off to the KKR captain, exchanged some words which fueled the banter and emotions. Suryakumar Yadav along with other players was quick to intervene in the matter and separated the two players.

For the same, Nitish Rana was fined 25 percent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct. Rana admitted to the Level 1 Offence under Article 2.21 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. While Hrithik Shokeen was fined 10 percent of his match fee for committing Level 1 Offence under Article 2.5 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct.

Venkatesh Iyer's century goes in vain as MI sneak away with their second victory of IPL 2023

Single-handedly carrying his team in today's match, out of the total of 185 runs KKR posted on the board, Venkatesh Iyer alone scored 104 runs off just 51 balls. He also became the second KKR batter only after Brendon McCullum to score a century for the franchise.

The MI bowlers pulled back things nicely in the death overs and restricted them under 200. In riposte, the MI openers bulked up the powerplay with heavy scoring and further tightened the grip on the match. Suryakumar Yadav's quick 43 runs ensured his form came back. Then the finishing touches by Tim David saw MI seal the game in the 18th over with 14 balls to spare and five wickets in hand.
