Abhishek Sharma was the Indian batsman with most T20I runs in 2025.

The Indian Cricket Team had a memorable year in T20Is in 2025, winning 16 out of the 22 matches they have played in the format. They maintained a winning percentage of 84.21 throughout the year and lost just three matches in the format, with three more ending in no results.

Near the end of the year, India won the T20I series against Australia and South Africa, following their loss in the ODI series against Australia. Against South Africa, after being whitewashed in the test series, the Men in Blue made a daunting comeback in the white-ball series, winning the ODI and T20I series handsomely.

Days after India won the white-ball series against South Africa, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced India’s ICC T20 World Cup 2026 squad on Saturday, December 20. Shubman Gill, who was India’s vice-captain in the T20I series against Australia and South Africa, was dropped from T20 World Cup squad that was announced.

It was a memorable year for India in T20I cricket as they found new heroes and matchwinners ahead of the T20 World Cup next year, where they are co-hosts along with Sri Lanka. Several of the batters have found form in the last two T20I series and in this article, we take a look at the top-five top run-getters for India in the format.

Indian Batsmen With Most T20I Runs In 2025

Samson ended up as the fifth-highest run-getter in the format, scoring 222 runs in 11 innings in 2025. He scored his runs at an average of just over 20 and a strike rate of close to 130. Samson’s best knock came against Oman in the Asia Cup 2025 game in Abu Dhabi, where he hit a half-century.

After Asia Cup 2025, Samson was made to bat in middle-order and then also was made to sit out for a few games. He returned for the final T20I against South Africa in Ahmedabad with Shubman Gill picking up an injury. He scored 37 off 22 balls, hitting four fours and two sixes and playing with intent. It was his intent that made the selectors include him in India’s T20 World Cup 2026 squad ahead of Gill.

4. Shubman Gill – 291 runs in 15 innings

Interestingly, despite being snubbed from India’s T20I squad, Shubman Gill ended up as the fourth-highest run-getter for India in T20Is. He scored 291 runs in 15 innings this year with a best of 47. The Indian ODI and test skipper has not scored a fifty-plus score in his last 20 T20I knocks.

His best innings came against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025, where he scored 47 off 28 balls in September. Gill scored his last T20I fifty against Zimbabwe back in July 2024 in Harare. The right-hander was chosen as the team’s vice-captain in the Asia Cup 2025 and the T20I series against Australia and South Africa, but finally was snubbed from the Indian T20 World Cup 2026 squad due to his poor returns.
