Australia defeated New Zealand by 5 runs in match No. 27 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
In what can only be described as a heart-pounding cricket match, Australia defeated New Zealand in a nerve-wracking match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, played in Dharamsala.
Both teams were at the top of their game, showcasing their incredible talent and competitive spirit throughout the match. New Zealand winning the toss opted to field first, Australia, led by a superb century from Travis Head (109) and a brilliant knock of 81 from David Warner, posted a total of 388 runs.
Despite some excellent bowling performances from New Zealand, notably Trent Boult's three wickets, Australia managed to pile on the runs. Glenn Maxwell's explosive cameo, scoring 41 from 24 deliveries, added crucial late runs to their total.

New Zealand's chase got off to a strong start with Devon Conway and Will Young, but it was Rachin Ravindra's century that kept Kiwis in the hunt. Ravindra scored 116, included nine boundaries and five sixes.
New Zealand required 19 runs in the last over with Jimmy Neesham almost taking it home for New Zealand, but Australians kept their composure and won the game.
Australia are at fourth place in the points table, while New Zealand and are at third position with both teams with 8 points.
