In a historic moment, Virat Kohli achieved a remarkable feat during the first test against South Africa. Despite India’s loss in the match at Centurion, Kohli became the first-ever cricketer to score 2000 runs in seven different calendar years.

India, led by Rohit Sharma, faced a challenging test against South Africa in Centurion. Unfortunately, they succumbed to the hosts, with South Africa securing victory by an innings and 32 runs. The spotlight, however, shifted to Virat Kohli, who showcased his exceptional batting skills in the second innings with a splendid knock of 76 runs off 82 balls.

Kohli’s achievement is a testament to his consistency and dominance on cricket field. He previously accomplished this feat in 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. Now, with his stellar performance in 2023, he has set a record that stands unparalleled in the 146-year history of cricket.

Reflecting on India’s performance in the first test, it was a challenging encounter for the visiting team. The batting line-up faced a formidable South African bowling attack, with Kagiso Rabada, Marco Jansen, and Nandre Burger making crucial breakthroughs. Despite the efforts of KL Rahul, who scored a century in the first innings, India fell short, and posted a total of 245. In response, South Africa went on to score 408 runs in the first innings.

In the second innings, as India sought to stage a comeback, Virat Kohli once again exhibited his class with a splendid innings of 76 runs. However, the rest of the batting-order struggled against the relentless South African attack, and India were bundled out for 131 and lost the game by an innings and 32 runs inside three days.
