Ashwin, who is one of the most successful bowlers in IPL, made his debut in the 2009 season for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He also played for the same franchise in his last season in IPL 2025.
Ashwin played for five different teams during his IPL career and clinched 187 wickets across 221 games. At an incredible economy of 7.20, he is one of the most economical bowlers in IPL history. The veteran spinner won two titles in IPL in the 2010 and 2011 seasons, both with CSK.

Ashwin also played for the Men in Yellow in his last season in IPL 2025. The off-spinner played 106 games for the franchise over the years and picked 97 scalps at an economy of 6.68.
Rising Pune Supergiants- IPL 2016-2017
As CSK were banned for two seasons ahead of IPL 2016, Ashwin was picked by now now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS). Across 14 matches, he picked 10 wickets for the franchise, bowling at an economy of 7.25.
Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings)- IPL 2018-2019
After missing IPL 2017 due to an injury, Ashwin became a member of Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in IPL 2018. He was appointed as the skipper for two seasons. Across 28 games, he clinched 25 wickets at an economy of 7.67.
Delhi Capitals- IPL 2020-2021
From 2020 to 2021 edition, the right-arm spinner became a member of Delhi Capitals (DC). Across two seasons, the off-spinner featured in 28 games and captured 20 scalps.
Rajasthan Royals- IPL 2022-2024
Ashwin became a member of Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2022 and played for the franchise for three seasons. During his stay, the right-arm spinner played 45 games for the side and picked 35 wickets.
