Mumbai Indians (MI) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are squaring off tonight in the Indian Premier League 2026 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Both are the worst performers in the tournament so far, with Mumbai placed at the ninth spot and LSG at the bottom-most 10th place in the points table. Both of them have four points each and have bagged just two victories.
This is an important game for the five-time champions as they need to win this match at any cost to keep their playoffs’ hopes alive.
Rishabh Pant & Co. have struggled like last season as several key players including the captain, have failed to perform consistently. Due to their horrible form, they are on the verge of getting eliminated from the playoff race.
In the 47th match of IPL 2026, the Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to field first. At the toss, LSG captain Rishabh Pant revealed the changes in the playing XI, confirming that Ayush Badoni and Mukul Choudhary, who featured in the previous game against KKR, missed out.

Mukul has scored 156 runs in eight games at an average of 31.20 and a strike rate of 145.79, including one unbeaten half-century.
Like Mukul, Badoni played in all the previous eight games, scoring 172 runs at a poor average of 21.50 and a strike rate of 140.98. The right-handed batsman scored a half-century against KKR, but failed to go big in other games. He has been use as an impact player in most matches.
