Ravi Ashwin registered his 33rd Fifer and Ajinkya Rahane registers a unique feat during Day 1 of the 1st Test.

The first day of the first test between India and the West Indies in Dominica was dominated by the visitors. They dismissed the hosts for just 150 runs and ended the day with an unbeaten 80-run stand for the first wicket. It started with the West Indies winning the toss and electing to bat first. That decision didn't go well, as they couldn't tackle the spin of Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.

Ravi Ashwin, who made his comeback into the playing XI, ended up picking his 33rd career fifer in test cricket. It was also his fifth against the Caribbean Team. The hosts had a 31-run opening stand, but Rohit Sharma introduced spin early and Ashwin dismissed both the openers. He ended up with a figure of 5/60 in 24.3 overs. The 36-year-old dismissed Kraigg Brathwaite, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Alick Athanaze, Alzarri Joseph, and Jomel Warrican.

Here are some notable numbers and records achieved on Day 1 of the 1st IND-WI Test

702 - Ravi Ashwin became the third Indian bowler to take 700 or more international wickets in his career. With his 5/60, he has taken 702 wickets across formats and is only behind Anil Kumble (956) and Harbhajan Singh (711) as the third-leading wicket-taker for India.

33 - This was Ashwin's 33rd Test five-wicket haul. He went past James Anderson (32) and has the most fifers among the active bowlers.

5 - Ashwin's 5/60 is his fifth five-wicket haul against the West Indies, and he equaled Harbhajan Singh with the most fifers by an Indian against the Caribbean team.

50 - The ongoing game is the 50th Test match for vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane.

95 - Tagenarine Chanderpaul was bowled by Ashwin, and he became the 95th victim for the veteran off-spinner to be bowled in test cricket. With this, Ashwin went past Anil Kumble's tally of 94 bowled dismissals in his career.

5 - Dismissing Chanderpaul also helped Ashwin to join an elite list of bowlers who have dismissed both father and son in test cricket. The 36-year-old became the fifth bowler overall and first Indian. Ian Botham, Wasim Akram, Mitchell Starc, and Simon Harmer are the other four bowlers.

3 - Ravi Ashwin has also equaled Subhash Gupte, Harbhajan, Kumble, and Ishant Sharma with three five-wicket hauls against the West Indies in West Indies, which is the most by an Indian bowler.
