Yashasvi Jaiswal hammered his seventh century during second test between India and the West Indies.

The second test between Indian Cricket Team and West Indies Cricket Team commenced on Friday, October 10 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. And the day one of the match was all about young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who stole the limelight with his impeccable century, hitting the opposition bowlers all over the park throughout the day.

After Indian captain Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to bat first, Jaiswal and KL Rahul gave a decent start with the bat, adding of 58 runs for opening partnership. However, Rahul lost his wicket in the first session as he got stumped.

After Rahul’s dismissal, Jaiswal built a marvellous partnership of 193 runs with Sai Sudharsan, who batted at three. The latter was on the way to his maiden century but Warrican removed him for 87 runs. While the visitors managed two wickets, they had no answers to the carnage by Jaiswal, who finished with an unbeaten 173 runs at stumps on day one with 22 boundaries.

Jaiswal scored his seventh century in test cricket during the clash and this was the fifth time that he registered a 150+ score. With his innings, he broke batting legend Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most 150+ scores in test cricket by an Indian batter before turning 24 years old. The latter hammered four tons in tests before the age of 24.

Moreover, Jaiswal has also clinched the record for most centuries by an opener before turning 24 years old. With seven tons, he has equalled former South Africa captain Graeme Smith’s record. The Indian opener failed to come up with a big knock in the first test by getting out for 36 runs. However, he made a stunning comeback in the second test to earn praise from fans.

Meanwhile, the Shubman Gill & Co. dominated the visitors in all three sessions on day one, reaching 318/2 at the stumps with Jaiswal (173*) and Shubman Gill (20*) unbeaten at the crease. India lead the two-match series 1-0 as they won the opening match by an innings and 140 runs.
