Shubman Gill is doubtful for the IND vs PAK clash in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
The mega clash of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is all set to take place in Ahmedabad on October 14. India will be facing Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday. The stakes are high for this game, and cricket fans around the world are waiting to witness the biggest cricket rivalry once again on the biggest stage. Both teams have reached Ahmedabad and are preparing for the high-voltage clash.
Both teams have won their first two games and are high on confidence. Team India will be hoping Shubman Gill will be fit for this match. The 23-year-old suffered from dengue and missed the first two games for India. Though he reached Ahmedabad on Wednesday, his participation is still in doubt. He is a crucial player for the team and is also in great form.
"Hopefully he will be fit for IND vs PAK Clash"- Yuvraj Singh on Shubman Gill
Ishan Kishan opened in both games in the absence of Shubman Gill. Though India won both games, Shubman Gill is a valuable player in the team. Former Indian star Yuvraj Singh, who played an important role in India's Word Cup-winning campaign in 2011, is hopeful that the 23-year-old might make it to the team. In an interview with ANI, Yuvraj said that India are the favorite heading into the game.
Yuvraj said, "Shubham Gill ko maine tagda kar diya hai [I have strengthened Shubham Gill]. I told him that I had played in the World Cup while battling cancer, so I got ready quickly to join the team. Hopefully, he will be ready for the India vs Pakistan game. When you have a fever and dengue it is really tough to play a cricket match and I have experienced that. So I hope that if he is fit then he will definitely play."
The former star also said that both teams have shown great form in this tournament, and it is expected to be a thrilling contest. He stated that after so many years, both teams will play against each other in India, and this time will not come again, so they should enjoy the moment.
"It is good for both the teams that after so many years the match is being held in India and more than one lakh people will come to watch this match. I'd say this time will not come back so enjoy it. Not just this match, there are more matches after this. Hopefully it will be a good match." said Yuvraj Singh ahead of the high-voltage clash.
Yuvraj also added that both teams will feel confident and have some in-form players. India have never lost to Pakistan in a World Cup game, and they will look to continue that streak.
