The Selecao are one of the favourites to win the coveted title and become world champions.

Brazil is the number one ranked team in the men’s FIFA ranking for national teams heading into the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The five-time World Cup winners will be hoping to end a two-decade drought to finally lift the trophy when the tournament takes place in Qatar from 20 November 2022 onwards.

The squad that will represent Brazil at the 2022 FIFA World Cup has several high-profile figures. Players like Neymar, Alisson, Thiago Silva and more will be headlining a star-studded squad that looks set to mount a strong challenge.

On that note, here is a look at how Brazil could lineup at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar:

GK - Alisson

Brazil has arguably the two best goalkeepers in the world in the squad. Alisson of Liverpool and Ederson of Manchester City are exceptional goalkeepers. They are brilliant with the ball on their feet and can be the difference makers. Alisson gets the nod ahead of Ederson and he will hope to keep the goals at a minimum at the World Cup.

RB - Danilo

Danilo has a lot of experience under his belt. The 31-year-old is a versatile defender who currently plays for Juventus FC. His composure and concentration are his strengths. A regular in the Old Lady’s starting lineup, Danilo will play a key role in Brazil’s defence.

CB - Thiago Silva

Thiago Silva defies age and continues to play at an elite level. He is a significant player for Chelsea FC and the same goes for the Brazil national team as well. The 38-year-old will be likely playing his last World Cup and will be hoping to win it before signing off.

CB - Marquinhos

Marquinhos and Thiago Silva played together at Paris Saint-Germain. They have great chemistry and togetherness, qualities that are fundamental in every centre-back partnership. He is an integral player for PSG and Brazil as well.

LB - Alex Telles

Alex Telles is currently playing for Sevilla, on loan from Manchester United. The left-back has sensational ability on the dead ball and can deliver crosses or take shots from the range with a strong left foot. He will also face competition for a starting place from Alex Sandro.

CM - Casemiro

Casemiro is arguably one of the best defensive midfielders in the world. He is a senior figure in the team and a rock in the midfield. The Manchester United player will be a key figure for Tite, keeping the ball ticking and also silencing any attacking threat.

CM - Fred

Fred is the player that will hope to shine for Brazil playing alongside his club teammate Casemiro. They form a duo that has balance. While Casemiro brings stability in the midfield, Fred does the running around, making interceptions, closing down any gaps and recovering the ball for his team.

CM - Lucas Paqueta

Lucas Paqueta will be the creative outlet in the midfield for Brazil. The West Ham United player has good vision and will be important in delivering the ball to the attackers. He will also need to be on top of his game as players like Bruno Guimaraes will be challenging for the starting place in the lineup.

RW - Antony

Manchester United’s Antony could start on the left wing for Brazil. He has a sensational left foot and loves to cut inside to cause trouble to opposition defenders. The former AFC Ajax player already has three goals in six appearances for the Red Devils. It will be interesting to see if Antony or Raphinha get the nod because both players are very equal in terms of ability.

LW - Neymar

The Brazilain has been on top form this term

Neymar is in a rich vein of form heading into the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The Paris Saint-Germain player is one of the few figures with more than a century of caps for the national team which is travelling to Qatar. If the Selecao is to lift the trophy in the end, then Neymar will certainly play a big part. He also has Vinicius Jr. of Real Madrid providing competition for a place on the left wing.

ST - Gabriel Jesus

Brazil has good options in the striker’s position. Gabriel Jesus is a rejuvenated figure since moving from Manchester City to Arsenal. The 25-year-old already has 56 caps for the national team, making him the most experienced forward in the lineup, ahead of Richarlison for instance. He must deliver goals for the national team to retain his place in the starting eleven once the tournament starts.
