The nation last lifted the trophy in 2014
The 2022 World Cup is just around the corner and is set to begin on November 20th.
Germany will head to Qatar in efforts to secure their fifth World Cup. Germany last won the World Cup in 2014 beating Argentina 1-0. Mario Gotze scored the winning goal in extra time to seal the trophy for the Germans. However, they struggled a lot in their title defence in 2018 and even at the 2020 Euros.
Now that Hansi Flick is manager, he has a lot to work on. Hansi has an availability of a great squad depth and young talented players as well. Germany usually employs a 4-2-3-1 formation.
Let's take a look at Khelnows predicted line-up for Germany in the 2022 World Cup :
Goalkeeper: Manuel Neuer
The sweeper keeper revolutionized the game and changed the way how modern keepers play. It is sure that Manuel Neuer will play unless unfortunate circumstances precede.
Manuel featured for Germany in the 2014 and 2018 World Cup. The other option for Germany in goalkeepers is Barcelona's Ter Stegen.
Left-Back: David Raum
David is not as famous as the other players on this line-up however his performances speak for themselves. Raum worked his way to Bundesliga after playing incredibly well in the Bundesliga 2.
Raum is an excellent attacking presence with many skills in his arsenal. No defender in the top 5 Leagues in Europe had made more crosses than Raum at one point. Germany can use this to their advantage, especially Kai Havertz who is likely to play in the centre.
Centre-back: Antonio Rudiger
Rudiger was not a fan favourite at Chelsea. Antonio did not play much under Frank Lampard but everything changed when Thomas Tuchel arrived. Ever since then Antonio Rudiger has made himself one of the world's best defenders.
Moreover, Rudiger's ability to blend quickly and adapt in any formation is underrated. The Real Madrid centre-back is a strong and aggressive defender as well. He is very versatile and can play on the flanks as well.
Centre-back: Niklas Sule
Another big and strong centre-back to partner up with Rudiger. Niklas Sule started playing football since the age of eight and worked his way to Bayern Munich and the German team as well.
Sule is extremely big and strong and can cover longer distances easily and faster. This can help teams who play a higher defensive line. Rudiger and Sule together forms a great defensive duo which should be impenetrable.
Right back: Lukas Klostermann
Lukas Klostermann is a right back for RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga. Germany definitely have some fast players in their squad and Klostermann is one of them. Klostermann was a former sprinter before finding his love for football.
Klostermann is a great defender with outstanding pace and consistency in winning aerial duels. Klostermann's presence definitely strengthens Germany's backline.
Defensive Midfielder: Joshua Kimmich
Kimmich is arguably one of the most underrated midfielders in the world. Joshua is a complete player. Kimmich excels in defending, attacking, passing, carrying the ball and in various other ranges. Kimmich is arguably one of the most important players for Germany.
Defensive midfielder: Ilkay Gundogan
Another player who is often unnoticed. Gundogan is a consistent player for Manchester City. Gundogan's strengts are his passing range, vision and his dribbling ability. Gundogan does not shy away from scoring goals as well. Ilkay has scored many goals throughout his career however he will look to score his first ever World Cup goal this year.
Left Midfielder: Jamal Musiala
Jamal Musiala is as good as today's talents like Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden. The youngster is very talented and has great dribbling abilities as well. Jamal has managed to garner 15 goal contributions in just 14 appearances for Bayern Munich. Talk about a great attacking addition for Germany.
Central Attacking Midfielder: Thomas Muller
Who other than Thomas Muller? The Raumedeuter. Thomas Muller is set to play his third World Cup this year. The Bayern legend scored none in the 2018 edition but managed to score 10 in both 2010 and 2014 combined. Müller's role is arguably the most crucial in the starting XI.
Right Midfielder: Leroy Sane
The winger/midfielder suffered a hamstring injury back in October. Nonetheless, Sane recovered quickly in time and is definitely expected to play in the starting XI. Leroy is a quick winger who is great in one vs one duels. Moreover, he has a very lethal left foot and can score goals by cutting in.
Striker: Kai Havertz
Germany is definitely missing the presence of Timo Werner because of an injury. However, Kai Havertz can fill in his role and do the needful. Havertz is great in the air and great at positioning as well. Kai can definitely convert many chances created from the Midfield and especially from the wing area.
