The list contains some of the biggest names in Indian club football

In its short history of around five years, the Hero Super Cup has gained much regard and popularity as one of India’s most competitive club football tournaments. The tournament fields some of India’s biggest clubs and players and is a very fierce and competitive event.

The inaugural season of the Super Cup was played back in 2018 when Bengaluru FC glided past the rest and took over the crown of the Super Cup champions. The following season, FC Goa stood tall and joined Bengaluru in the list of competition winners. What came next was the daunting Coronavirus pandemic, which brought a standstill to the competition, before being resumed in 2023.

This year, with the further inclusion of all ISL teams, and some biggest I-League teams, the competition has reached new heights. Also, a chance for the winners to play in the AFC Cup is something that is getting the best out of the teams and is further adding to the drama and craze of this tournament.

With such top-quality players having played in the competition, there hasn't been any shortage of goals in the Super Cup, and the display of pure attacking quality by some of the most elite players playing in India has further graced the legacy of the competition.

So, let’s take a look at the top five players, with the most number of goals in Super Cup history.

5. Hugo Boumous (5 goals)

When talking about the best foreign players to have ever played club football in India, Hugo Boumous is definitely a key part of that conversation. The Moroccan has been a standout and impressive performer in both the ISL and Super Cup. The player has a total of eight games in the latter and has a tally of five goals scored.

Boumous also has a Super trophy to his name, as he won the competition with Goa back in 2019.

4. Ansumana Kromah (6 goals)

Churchill Brothers’ Ansumana Kromah also makes his way into the all-time top scorers list, courtesy of his six goals across seven appearances in the Hero Super Cup. The player has scored against some top teams like Bengaluru FC and Mumbai City. The other four of his goals came against Real Kashmir in their Super Cup qualification game this season.

3. Wilmar Jordan (6 goals)

Despite this being his first season in India, Wilmar has already made his way into the top three of all-time leading Super Cup scorers, that too in just three games. The Colombian is in red-hot form and is scoring goals for fun. His goal breakdown includes a brace against Mumbai and a recent four-goal haul against Churchill Brothers. Also, with a semi-final and a possible final still in place for the Highlanders, Wilmar can further add to his tally.

2. Ferran Corominas (7 goals)

Ferran Coromians is a synonym for goals. The player’s legacy in Indian football is something that can never be forgotten, and he still remains in the hearts of all football lovers in India. Across the wonderful spell of magic that Coro showcased in India, the Super Cup was fortunate enough to witness some of it.

Coro scored seven goals in seven appearances in the Super Cup and was the top scorer of the competition in 2019 when his team won the competition. Also, he scored on two occasions in the inaugural year of the competition.

1 . Sunil Chhetri (8 goals)

With his goal yesterday against Jamshedpur in the semi-finals of the Hero Super Cup 2023, Sunil Chhetri is now the all-time top scorer in the history of the Super Cup, with a total of eight goals.

Majority of Sunil’s goals in the competition came in the 2018 season when he put the ball in the back of the net six times and helped his team lift the title. Also, with a Super Cup final pending for this Tuesday, Sunil can further add to his tally, and can also consolidate his title of the all-time top scorer in Super Cup history.
