Can The Gunners still be alive in the title race or the high flying Seagulls keep pushing for a European spot?

Arteta's men are still pushing for the title and find themselves potentially four points behind Manchester City. A sturdy performance away at St. James Park saw Arsenal beat 3rd placed Newcastle United by 2-0 in their last run out in the Premier League. However, they have yet another task at hand against De Zerbi's men to keep their title hopes alive. Following their 4-2 win at The Amex stadium in December, Arsenal are looking to complete the Premier League double over Brighton for only the second time (also 2020-21).

After losing 1-5 at home to Everton last time out, Brighton could suffer consecutive Premier League defeats for only a second time this season (previously in October). Away from home, The Seagulls have lost two of their last three league games (W1), as many as their previous 10 beforehand (W4 D4 L2). Brighton have lost nine of their 10 Premier League away games against sides starting the day in the top two, with the exception being a 2-2 draw against Liverpool in October 2021. They have conceded 23 goals in those 10 matches, while scoring just six in reply.

Kick-Off:

Sunday, 14-05-2023, 03:30 PM (GMT)

Sunday, 14-05-2023, 09:00 PM (IST)

Arsenal Form (All Competitions): W-W-L-D-D

Brighton Form (All Competitions): L-W-W-W-L

Player to Watch Out

Arsenal: Gabriel Martinelli

Martinelli's technical profile is driven by an intuitive and positive approach in the final third. Technically, he is one of the best dribbler, passer or shooter in the Gunner's ranks and is adept at using them to the fullest. The highest goal scorer for Arsenal this campaign with 15 goals, he will be a major player to look out for in this Sunday's fixture.

Brighton: Kaoru Mitoma

A natural right footer, Mitoma usually operates off the left, in a LM or LW role. He has a great change of pace and agile dribbling style, almost alike Eden Hazard, which allows him to beat his man on the inside or out, and he has the awareness to know when to play the right pass. A stand out performer this season, he has 7 goals and 5 assists in the Premier league this season.

Match Facts

Brighton have won three of their last four away games against Arsenal in all competitions (L1), including a 3-1 victory in this season's EFL Cup. The Seagulls had been winless in their first eight visits to The Gunners before this run (D2, L6).

Arsenal have won five of their last six games at The Emirates (D1), scoring at least three goals in all six such games.

Injury and Team News for Arsenal vs Brighton

Although Gabriel has returned to the lineup after having limped off against Chelsea, there is still concern regarding his fitness. William Saliba is still out with a lower back injury and it looks like his season is well and over. Takehiro Tomiyasu and Mohammed Elneny are also out with knee injuries respectively. Oleksandr Zinchenko was replaced in the match against Newcastle with a calf injury and Kieran Tierney is most likely to take his place in this fixture. Jorginho has been a key figure in the midfield in the past few weeks and is expected to get the nod ahead of Thomas Partey with the front three remaining the same.

Brighton on the other hand have a serious list of injuries with notable miss outs going into this fixture. Solly March came off against Everton with a thigh injury and his return date is unknown as of now. Pascal Groß has had to shift in the right back role momentarily as both Tariq Lamptey and Joel Veltman are out with knee and thigh injuries respectively. Jakub Moder's condirion is being assessed but it is very unlikely that he will be making the trip to Emirates. Jeremy Sarmiento and Adam Lallana are also out for the rest of the season. Enciso might be recalled to the squad after Undav's disappointing performance against Everton.

Head-to-head Stats

Predicted Lineup

Arsenal Predicted lineup (4-3-3):

Ramsdale; B. White, J. Kiwior, Gabriel, K. Tierney; Odegaard, Jorginho, Xhaka; Saka, G. Jesus, G. Martinelli

Brighton Predicted lineup (4-2-3-1):

Steele; P. Groß, Webster, L. Dunk, Estupinan; M. Caicedo, A. Mac Allister; Buonanotte, Enciso, Mitoma; D. Welbeck

Prediction

Following the heavy defeat at home against relegation threatened Everton, the high flying Seagulls might find their sails scuffed a bit and a trip to The Emirates could not be any more daunting. With the blood thirsty Gunners rampaging and keeping pace with City to have a crack at the title, it is very unlikely that Brighton can shock the Emirates.

Prediction: Arsenal 3-1 Brighton & Hove Albion.
