The Red Devils are one of the most successful English clubs of all time

In Erik ten Hag’s second season as manager of Manchester United, the Red Devils have advanced to their second FA Cup final since 2018, and they are hoping to bring home additional hardware.

Since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure in 2013, United have struggled despite having a stellar FA Cup record in the past.

Since the legendary Scottish manager left Old Trafford, the team has only won one FA Cup. Local rivals Manchester City, as well as Arsenal and Chelsea, have emerged as stronger cup threats.

But United has already experienced Wembley glory with Ten Hag in the 2022–23 season, thanks to a Carabao Cup final victory against Newcastle in February 2023.

After defeating Brighton & Hove Albion on penalties in the semifinals, United will now play derby rivals Manchester City in the 2023 FA Cup final on June 3.

How many FA Cup victories have Man United had?

Manchester United are the second-most successful team in the 151-year history of the FA Cup, behind only Arsenal (14), with an astounding 13 FA Cup victories under their belt.

Only Arsenal’s 14 FA Cup victories have more wins than Manchester United’s 13, and the Red Devils have advanced to the final 20 times overall. The Reds are the only club to have been in an FA Cup final in each decade following World War II.

The club first competed in the FA Cup in 1890 as Newton Heath, but they didn’t advance past the third round until 1902 when they changed their name to Manchester United.

United first won the title in 1909, defeating Bristol City 1-0 at Crystal Palace, however, it took the Reds until 1948 to advance to the second final, which took place at Wembley, where Matt Busby’s squad overcame Blackpool 4-2.

The Reds finished second in two consecutive finals the next decade, 1957 and 1958, the latter barely months after the team had been completely destroyed by the Munich Air Disaster.

After that, it saw an era of a new United team under Matthew Busby which United’s dominance in England and the mantle was later passed to Alex Ferguson who made continued the club’s supremacy in England and Europe.
