Top five most successful English clubs of all-time
These clubs are giants of English football.
Manchester United defeated Newcastle to lift the sixth league cup title in their history. This made the Reds the joint-most successful English club. Teams in England are accustomed to winning silverware. Trophy-less spells generally mean panic stations at a number of clubs. Such competition has seen teams from the country dominate at the continental stage as well. London outfit Chelsea are the defending European champions.
Manchester City have dominated English football in recent years. The Mancunian team have won several domestic league and cup titles. But, most of their success has come since 2010. Meanwhile, their city rivals Manchester United have a much longer history of success in the country. The Red Devils are one of the most successful clubs in the world. Chelsea, Arsenal, Leeds United and Aston Villa have also enjoyed tremendous success.

5. Manchester City – 34 Titles
The Mancunian club has transformed itself in recent years. Since a change in ownership in 2007, they have dominated English football. Manchester City have risen from the shadows of their successful neighbours. The club have established itself as modern-day English giants.
Manchester City lifted first-division titles in 1937 and 1968. But, have managed to win the Premier League six times. They have also won multiple domestic cup titles. Man City won the Champions League in 2022-23 season.

4. Chelsea – 34 Titles
The Blues are next on the list of the most successful English clubs. Most of their success has come since the turn of the century. This coincided with a change in ownership. Chelsea have been a dominant force in English football in recent years.
The London club have won the Premier League five times. Chelsea also won a first-division championship in 1955. They have a number of domestic cup successes as well.
Chelsea are one of the most successful English clubs in Europe. They have won the Champions League and Europa League twice.
3. Arsenal – 48 Titles
The Gunners have a long history in English football. Despite enduring a tough spell in recent years, Arsenal remain one of the most successful clubs in the land. The North Londoners won the league title five times in the 1930s. This was followed by first division success in the coming decades.
Arsenal have won the Premier League twice since the turn of the century. But, the Gunners are the most successful side in FA Cup history. They have won the competition a record 14 times. However, they are yet to win a major European title.

2. Manchester United – 67 Titles
The Red Devils dominated English football under Sir Alex Ferguson. Manchester United have always had great teams. But, most of their success came under the Scottish manager. The club won 13 of their 20 league titles under him. Ferguson also led them to two Champions League triumphs.
Since his departure, United have fallen behind in the league. But, they still managed to win a few trophies. Manchester United have won 20 leagues, 12 FA Cups and three European titles in their history. The Red Devils recent ended their six year trophy drought as they lifted the EFL Cup against Newcastle United.
1 Liverpool – 69 Titles
The Merseyside giants have regained their status as the top team in England in recent years with their recent League Cup win. Liverpool had tremendous domestic success in the 1970s and 1980s. The 2019-20 Premier League triumph was their first in three decades.
Despite struggles in England, Liverpool succeeded in Europe. The Reds have won the Champions League six times. This is the most by any English club. They also won multiple UEFA Cups and Super Cups.
Liverpool have won 19 league titles, eight FA Cups and 10 EFL cups. The Reds won their 10th EFL Cup title against Chelsea. A narrow 1-0 victory was enough to add another trophy to their cabinet.
