Farukh Choudhary is eyeing a proper comeback this season.

Farukh Choudhary parted ways with Jamshedpur FC a few days back after his contract with the club came to an end. And it hasn't taken much time for the winger to get himself a new club either. "Farukh Choudhary has signed a multi-year deal with Chennaiyin FC. He had offers from three other clubs but chose to join Chennaiyin FC," a source close to the development informed Khel Now this evening.

"Farukh's medicals are already completed from the club's end," the source further revealed.

Chennaiyin FC already have wingers like Ninthoi Meetei and Vincy Barretto in their ranks. But after the departure of Prashanth K, the Marina Machans needed reinforcements. Moreover, with Owen Coyle taking the hot seat in a few days, it should be clear to the fans why Farukh chose the two-time Indian Super League champions as his next destination.

Farukh Choudhary rises from the ashes

The winger had suffered an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury during the 2021 SAFF Championship. The affect was such that the winger coudn't feature in the 2021-22 ISL season for Jamshedpur FC. The next season however, he came back from injury but wasn't a mainstay in Aidy Boothroyd's side. Farukh had to pitch in from the bench on most of the occasions, be it the Indian Super League or the Hero Super Cup.

However, now it is a fresh challenge for Choudhary. At 26, he will be the most experienced winger in the Chennaiyin FC camp, with Ninthoi and Vincy still too young to handle the heat. Will Farukh be able to make his way or rather solidify his place in the starting XI? Well, time will say.

Chennaiyin FC's preparations

Chennaiyin FC are currently under a major overhaul. They have parted ways with all their foreigners and are currently rebuilding from scratch. Notably, they are perhaps the only team with numerous young talents in it - the recent ones being Irfan Yadwad, Sachu Siby, Bijay Chhetri and Prateek Kumar Singh. They have also roped in former East Bengal right-back Ankit Mukherjee.
