Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney’s son Kai Rooney wishes to follow in his father’s footsteps and have a successful career in professional football.
Wayne Rooney was Manchester United’s talisman. He is their all-time top goal scorer with 253 goals in 559 appearances and is one of the club’s most decorated players. In his 13 years at Old Trafford, Rooney won 13 trophies including five league titles, four League Cups, the FA Cup, the Champions League, the Europa League.
Wayne Rooney is third on the list of Premier League all-time top goal scorers, with 183 goals in the English topflight. Rooney was also talismanic during his time with the England national side he was their top scorer from 2015-2023 and has made more appearances than any other outfield player.
Clearly, Kai Rooney has a lot of work to do if he wants to have a career as impactful as his father.
Kai Rooney is a part of Manchester United’s youth academy, he joined them in 2009 when his father was still a player. However, he switched to rivals Man City’s youth academy sometime later. After his father came back to England post his managerial stint with MLS side D.C. United, Kai had a considerable amount of offers from youth academies including those from rivals Man City an Liverpool. However, he joined United’s academy.
Currently playing for his school in the Gothia cup tournament in Sweden, the 13-year-old has regularly found the back of the net, he plays as a striker and an occasional winger. He was quoted as saying. –

Kai Rooney has generated a considerable amount of buzz amongst United’s fans. He already holds the record for most goals for their U-12 team.
Kai has stated that it is his dream to start for the Manchester United senior team in ten years’ time.
Kai Rooney was asked if his dad gives him advice and said: "It’s a lot about scoring goals because he was pretty good at scoring goals. So, it’s mainly tips about that. He is preparing me to get into professional football with the right mentality.”
