Three reasons why move to Kerala Blasters will benefit Lara Sharma
Lara Sharma recently joined Kerala Blasters on loan from Bengaluru FC.
The 2023-24 Indian football season is all set to kick off with the Durand Cup in Kolkata, Guwahati and Kokrajhar. All the clubs have been very active in the transfer window so far, but Kerala Blasters have had a noticeable transfer window.
The Kochi-based side have let go of a lot of their key players including 2021-22 ISL Golden Glove winner Prabhsukhan Gill. Gill has now moved to East Bengal in exchange of a hefty transfer fee.
Gill’s departure meant that the Blasters needed a replacement in place. And to replace possibly their best ever goalkeeper, Kerala Blasters have put their trust in Bengaluru FC’s second-choice keeper Lara Sharma.
Lara joins the Blasters on a season-long loan deal ahead of the upcoming season. On that note, let us take a look at how this move will benefit the goalkeeper.
3. More game-time
As mentioned earlier, Lara was the second-choice goalkeeper for Bengaluru FC which means he hasn’t played much ever since signing for the Blues. Currently 24, Lara is nearing his prime years and it is very important for him to play regularly.
Saying that, Kerala Blasters will cater his career needs perfectly well. He will undoubtedly be a starter in Ivan Vukomanovic’s team, which will help him get a good amount of game-time under his belt that will fasten up his development.
2. Chance of becoming a big goalkeeper
Lara Sharma has been under the shadow of Gurpreet Singh Sandhu at Bengaluru FC and hasn’t had many opportunities to showcase his skills. He has played only five games in the Indian top flight and that too in the 2021-22 season and not even a single game last season. In three seasons with Bengaluru FC, Lara has hardly had the chance to play.
And it is obvious given that India’s best goalkeeper is Bengaluru’s number 1. Lara has all the good qualities to become a big name in Indian football. Standing tall, Lara is easily one of the tallest keepers in the country. He needs more game-time along with proper guidance to unleash his true potential and Kerala Blasters can help him do that.
1. Can become an asset for Kerala Blasters
Lara has moved to Kerala Blasters on a loan deal until the end of the 2023-24 season. His move to Ivan Vukomanovic’s side provides him an excellent opportunity to show what he brings to the table and help Kerala Blasters in every possible way.
Meanwhile, it also presents an equally good chance to Kerala Blasters to test Lara’s capabilities and then decide his future at the club. If things fall in place and Lara proves his mettle, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Kerala Blasters secure his signature on a permanent basis. Lara Sharma’s move to the Blasters will surely present him with many chances including one to become Kerala Blasters’ permanent number 1.
