Mohun Bagan sign Rohen Singh, Serto Kom from Classic Football Academy
Rohen Singh has previously played for Mohun Bagan's arch-rivals East Bengal in the ISL.
Mohun Bagan Super Giant are not looking to slow down their football transfers anytime soon. After creating headlines with sensational big-money signings like Armando Sadiku and Jason Cummings, the management has roped in prolific youngsters Rohen Singh Ningthou and Serto Worneilen Kom from Classic Football Academy.
Rohen Singh, a 20-year-old skilful midfielder has prior experience of playing in Kolkata, as he was part of the East Bengal team in 2020-21. Serto on the other hand, hails from Manipur. This young 19-year-old attacker could prove to be a surprise threat to the opponents' defense. Both players have joined the Mariners on a year-long loan deal.
Provided the already skilled and decorated team of the defending champions, Rohen and Serto will find it tough to get adequate game-time among the proven champions. Serto will need to gain Mohun Bagan boss Juan Ferrando’s trust to rise above the ranks of proven midfielders- Anirudh Thapa, Hugo Boumous, Nongdamba Naorem, Sahal Abdul Samad, and Glan Martins. Rohen however, will have an edge over his fellow teammate Serto, as he has already handled the pressure of playing for a club like East Bengal.
Attacker Serto will face tougher competition because the cash-rich club is already filled with the best options like Dimitri Petratos, Jason Cummings, Armando Sadiku, Kiyan Nassiri, Liston Colaco, Manvir Singh, and Ashique Kuruniyan. With the availability of lethal options like this, it will be a fierce challenge for the newcomer to get enough time to shine.
Despite all odds, signing for the defending champions at this tender age is itself a big achievement. Rohen Singh and Serto Kom will surely look forward to rising above all the difficult challenges and proving their worth in the team. The two youngsters will also be able to learn a lot and improve their game when they share the stage with the proven superstars of Indian football.
