Arsenal extend shirt sponsor deal with Emirates until 2028

Emirates has been Arsenal’s shirt sponsor since 2004
The Emirates shirt sponsor deal with Arsenal has been extended through 2028, making it the oldest front-of-shirt endorsement in the history of the Premier League.
The airline, which is headquartered in the United Arab Emirates, started supporting Arsenal in 2006.
Emirates’ partnership with Arsenal will now enter its 22nd year thanks to the renewal. Arsenal made the announcement prior to the Emirates Cup preseason competition, in which the Gunners will play Monaco on Wednesday.
When the club’s stadium was built in 2006, the word “Emirates” has been on the chest of the club’s men’s, women’s, and youth team jerseys.

‘We are incredibly proud to make history by extending our partnership with Emirates until 2028,’ said Juliet Slot, Arsenal’s chief commercial officer.
‘The longevity of our special relationship is a sign of our enduring shared values, our ambition to bring our global communities together, and our commitment to building on the numerous achievements that have marked our 17-year journey to date.
‘As we take our partnership to a minimum of 22 years together, we’re excited to move forward and we’re focused on celebrating more incredible moments with our supporters around the world.’
Emirates first partnered with Arsenal in 2004 when it decided to purchase the right to give names to the team’s stadium. Two years later, a deal with sponsors for shirts was reached.
As a result of a renewal negotiated in 2012, Arsenal’s home facility was already slated to be named Emirates Stadium up to 2028.
It makes sense that the choice to renew the agreement will be scrutinised. Given the harm that carbon emissions are causing to our planet, some may wonder whether it is wise to continue working with an international airline. Others will draw attention to the company’s funding source, the United Arab Emirates, and the country’s ban on consenting same-sex relationships between adults.
