Bayern Munich opens talks Chelsea to sign Kepa Arrizabalaga

Thomas Tuchel has personally urged the Bundesliga champions to sign the goalkeeper
After selling Yann Sommer to Inter this week, the Bundesliga winners have designated the acquisition of a new custodian one of their top goals for the last few days of the summer window for transfers. Manuel Neuer, in the meantime, is still not close to recovering from breaking his leg during a ski vacation in December.
David Raya was the subject of negotiations between Bayern and Brentford, but the Spaniard is reportedly close to joining Arsenal after Mikel Arteta’s team reached a £30 million agreement on Tuesday.
The German club is reportedly looking for replacements and has started “initial talks” with Chelsea about a deal for Kepa, as reported by Sport1.
According to the source, Thomas Tuchel personally suggested the Spaniard to Bayern’s management after the two worked together at Chelsea.

Kepa relinquished his spot as Chelsea’s No. 1 under Tuchel because the German preferred Edouard Mendy.
Kepa is anticipated to line up in goal for Chelsea’s Premier League debut against Liverpool on Sunday after Mendy left for the Saudi Pro League this summer.
He now has competition for his position in Mauricio Pochettino’s lineup though, as Chelsea just finalised a £25 million deal to acquire Robert Sanchez from Brighton.
Kepa, who moved from Athletic Bilbao to Chelsea in a £71.6 million transfer, has two years left on his contract, which is worth almost £190,000 per week.
Kepa has approximately two years left on his club’s deal, so it will be interesting to see whether Chelsea accepts Bayern’s proposal of a loan with a buy option.
He transferred from Athletic Bilbao to the team in 2018 for a then-club-record £71 million ($91 million), although he hasn’t performed reliably in goal.
