Bayern Munich reject Manchester United's first offer for Benjamin Pavard
The French full-back is keen to join the Red Devils as he is open to new challenge
According to Christian Falk, Bayern Munich have turned down Manchester United’s first bid for French international Benjamin Pavard.
This week, Man United approved West Ham’s offer of £30 million (€34 million/$38 million) for Maguire, but the deal has not yet been finalised.
The Red Devils are apparently focusing their attention on Pavard, a versatile defender from Bayern, as that trade nears completion.
The Bundesliga winners have reportedly spoken with the Premier League team, but they have ‘no clear light’ for an agreement from Die Roten, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Right back for Bayern As his deal with the Bundesliga team ends in 2024, Benjamin Pavard is rumoured to be eager to quit the team.

The Red Devils are anxious to get Maguire off their books and recuperate part of the £80 million ($101.9 million) they paid Leicester City in 2019 — a record cost for a defender — so the 27-year-old would be considered a good substitute.
Erik ten Hag, the manager of United, is said to admire the Frenchman, who is also capable of playing as a centre-back. With only one year remaining on his contract, United will try to negotiate a lower fee for Pavard.
United’s season begins on Monday, August 14, when they take on Wolves, while Bayern’s Bundesliga season gets started the next Friday when they face Werder Bremen. When such games take place, it is unknown if Maguire and Pavard will still be with their present clubs.
In the right-back place, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot are rivals, while Pavard, a World Cup champion with France in 2018, can also succeed in that role. He is only 27 years old and is expected to play at the highest level for many more seasons.
With 163 first-team appearances, Benjamin Pavard cemented himself as an integral player in Munich after moving to Bayern from Stuttgart in 2019.
In each of his four seasons at the club, he contributed to the club winning the Bundesliga and the Champions League. He provides a threat on offence as well, scoring seven goals last season.
