Besiktas approach Manchester United for Mason Greenwood

Man United have removed Mason Greenwood from the club

According to reports, Manchester United‘s Mason Greenwood has received a fresh offer from Besiktas. Besiktas, a Turkish team, are rumoured to have started negotiations over a potential transfer for the attacker.

Last week, United made the departure of Greenwood from Old Trafford official. The club wrapped up its internal inquiry into the 21-year-old’s allegations in early 2022.

It was decided that moving his profession elsewhere would be in everyone’s best interests. Greenwood has thus far had a hard time finding opportunities.

Bestikas might be preparing to throw him an opportunity to relaunch his career, though. Besiktas, according to the Turkish publication Sabah Spor, included Greenwood in their list of objectives.

They allegedly are looking at Greenwood’s current state of fitness. Through agents, Bestikas have also inquired about the potential for a transaction.

On Friday at 11 p.m., English clubs must finish any incoming transfer transaction. The Turkish trade window, though, doesn’t close until September 15.

To what extent Greenwood might be able to make an appearance for Besiktas if a move came about is unknown given that he trained separately from United over the summer. Since January 2022, he hasn’t participated in a match due to accusations of attempted rape and sexual assault.

He faced charges in October of last year, but the prosecutor’s office dropped the case in February. The CPS stated that “there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction” in an announcement.

Roma reportedly has interest in bringing him to Serie A. However, Jose Mourinho’s former United squad in Italy has also distanced itself from a deal.

Upon earning his United debut at age 17, Greenwood played 129 times. He had a total of 35 goals and 12 assists for the team in addition to one cap for England in 2020.
