Cameroon announce squad for September African Cup qualifiers; Andre Onana included

Onana is currently playing for Manchester United
André Onana, a custodian for Manchester United who was expelled from the 2022 World Cup, has resumed his international career in order to be a part of the Cameroon squad announced by coach Rigobert Song on Tuesday.
Onana has been selected in the 24-person roster for the September 12 African Cup qualifying match against Burundi. All Cameroon need to do to get to the tournament, which begins on January 13 in Ivory Coast, is draw their home game.
At the age of 26, Onana announced that he was terminating his international career last December. After starting Cameroon’s opening match at the World Cup in Qatar, a 1-0 loss to Switzerland.

He was benched after clashing with Song over the team’s strategy. Song insisted that players should “show discipline and respect.
Cameroon later tied Serbia 3-3 and defeated Brazil 1-0, however, they were unable to go past the round of 16.
Onana, though, declared in the previous year that “Cameroon remains eternal, and so does my love for the national team.”
