Everton emerge as new favourites to sign Manchester United outcast Harry Maguire

The English defender was stripped of captaincy at the start this season
According to Football Insider, Everton are ahead of Tottenham and West Ham in their quest to capture Manchester United defender Harry Maguire.
All three Premier League teams and Chelsea had expressed interest in acquiring the England centre defender before the transfer market closes.
Although Maguire, 30, is paid a large salary of about £200,000 per week and has two more years left on his contract, United is eager to sell him.
On July 18, Football Insider reported that United were willing to sell Maguire for a reduced price of roughly £35 million, but the player insisted on having his $10 million-per-year contract fully paid off before agreeing to go.
Despite having their initial offer of roughly £20 million for the defender refused, West Ham are thinking about making a second offer.

However, Everton have also intervened in the Maguire situation and is thought to be a solid choice for the player.
Given the exits of Yerry Mina and Conor Coady and despite rising concerns regarding the long-term prospects of Jarrad Branthwaite, Sean Dyche is searching for a new centre-back.
It’s interesting to note that West Ham are interested in 21-year-old Branthwaite, who is eager to play more frequently after enjoying a solid season on loan at PSV Eindhoven.
If Maguire continues at Old Trafford through the final day of September 1st, it is anticipated that he will be a second-string player.
During the 2022–23 season, he played in 31 games across all competitions, but he only started 16 of them.
The 2019 signing from England seemed crucial, but Erik ten Hag has favoured other centre-backs including Victor Lindelof, Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, as well as Luke Shaw.
