Pre-season offers a window into the preparedness of the clubs and their players ahead of the start of a new season. In terms of the Premier League, many players have shown good form and are raring to give their hundred per cent for their respective clubs.

As the new season of the Premier League (PL) comes closer to its start, so is the new Fantasy Premier League (FPL) campaign that runs simultaneously. The highly popular fantasy football league’s 2023-24 season is about to commence and the FPL managers are extremely busy in preparing their squad templates for the season.

While strategising on which players to opt for, FPL managers look at the pre-season form of the players while making their selections. On that note, here is a look at the top 10 players, based on pre-season form, that the FPL users can consider:

Christopher Nkunku (Chelsea) – £7.5m

Chelsea’s new signing Christopher Nkunku will be one to watch out for the upcoming season. The fluid attacker costs £7.5m only, which is less compared to other attackers. Interestingly, the French international is showing nice form and scored two goals already for the Blues.

Antony (Manchester United) – £7.0m

Antony of Manchester United has scored two goals and made one assist in the pre-season for the club. The winger is a regular starter in the lineup and has only 1.7% ownership in the FPL ahead of the 2023-24 season. While the focus would be on players like Marcus Rashford or Bruno Fernandes, FPL managers can bet on Antony to deliver as well.

Eberechi Eze (Crystal Palace) – £6.5m

Eberechi Eze is emerging as a must-have before the new season begins in the Fantasy Premier League. He is one of the most sought-after mid-priced midfielders, a regular starter and showing good pre-season form. The midfielder has scored two goals and two assists for the Eagles in pre-season.

Leandro Trossard (Arsenal) – £7.0m

With players like Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka in the lineup, most FPL users may overlook Leandro Trossard as an asset. However, with three goals in pre-season (two against FC Barcelona), the midfielder is showing good attacking intent and is a brilliant differential option too with 4.8% ownership.

Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa) – £8.0m

Ollie Watkins is pegged to be the dark horse in the upcoming season of the FPL. He has scored four goals for Aston Villa in pre-season and also takes penalties for the side, making him a good asset.

Julian Alvarez (Manchester City) – £6.5m

Julian Alvarez at £6.5m is a brilliant option for FPL managers looking for affordable players with the potential to score high amounts of points. He has two assists and one goal in the pre-season friendlies for MCFC. It remains to be seen how much gametime he gets under Pep Guardiola’s rotation policy.

Elliot Anderson (Newcastle United) – £4.5m

Elliot Anderson has four goals and three assists for Newcastle United in pre-season. The midfielder is showing great hunger to establish himself as a starter in Eddie Howe’s plans. While a lot of gametime is uncertain for Anderson, FPL managers can consider him in their squads for initial matches based on form alone. Also, he costs only £4.5m in FPL.

Jarrod Bowen (West Ham) – £7.0m

Jarrod Bowen has three goals and three assists in pre-season for West Ham United. As the Hammers have not signed a lot of players yet, the attacker is set to be at the heart of the club’s goalscoring ambitions.

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) – £12.5m

With six assists and one goal in pre-season, Mohamed Salah is showing incredible goalscoring form for Liverpool. He scored 239 points in FPL last season and is a safe choice for those willing to put their faith in him.

Darwin Nunez (Liverpool) – £7.5m

Darwin Nunez is making a lot of noise with his pre-season form. The striker has four goals and one assist for the Reds and looks in fine goalscoring touch. He had 100 points in FPL last season from 19 starts. A lot of FPL managers are looking at Nunez as an affordable forward option to incorporate other costlier attackers like Erling Haaland or Harry Kane in their squads.
