Germany will face Japan and France during their internatioanl friendlies

Leon Goretzka and Timo Werner are left out of the Germany team for the upcoming September International break, whereas Brighton’s Pascal Gross won an initial call-up.

While veteran Manuel Neuer continues to recuperate from a leg injury, manager Flick opted to call back experienced Thomas Mueller for nine months until Germany organises Euro 2024.

Joshua Kimmich of Bayern Munich will probably lead the team without Neuer.

Gross, 32, who has been a player for Premier League club Brighton since 2017, earned the inaugural call-up for Germany.

In addition to reinstating Bayern midfielder Jamal Musiala, who is presently rehabilitating from an injury to his thigh, Flick reinserted Borussia Dortmund’s Niklas Suele in defence.

Despite the fact that Germany is eligible for the Euros as the hosts as well as Flick has kept changing his team.

Germany has struggled this year, winning just one of five games, following a humiliating group-stage defeat at the Qatar World Cup in 2022.

In addition to a tie with Ukraine and one victory against Peru, Germany has lost three of those matches to Belgium, Poland, and Colombia.
