Jota on verge of Al-Ittihad 'exit' just one-month after £25M move
The 24-year-old forward won two Scottish Premiership titles with Celtic
Jota is reportedly on the brink of leaving Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad. The Portuguese winger joined the Saudi club last month from Celtic.
Al-Ittihad are the defending champions in the SPL. They strengthened their team by adding Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, Fabinho and Jota. Benzema and Kante came for free, but the Saudi club had to pay for the other two players.
Jota, who joined Celtic on a permanent deal last summer from Benfica, was signed for £25 million. However, there are reports that he is close to leaving the club.
The 24-year-old has made two appearances in the current season, but both were off the bench. He is the club’s most expensive signing and earns around £200,000 per week. Jota has been used as a 74th-minute substitute in both of Al-Ittihad’s Saudi Pro League matches this season.
The report on Jota’s future came from Saudi journalist Muhammad Al-Bukairy. He said that the future of the player is uncertain at the club. No further information was provided.
There are reports that the defending champions are interested in Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah. However, it won’t be easy for them to persuade the Egyptian forward.

The young forward came into the limelight during his loan spell at Celtic. He graduated from Benfica’s academy, and in his first season in Scotland, he scored 13 goals.
Celtic signed him after paying his buyout clause of £6.5 million. He scored 15 goals in his first full season and once again took Celtic to glory.
A possible exit from the Saudi club would mean that Al-Ittihad would need a replacement for their most expensive player. They have started the season with two wins. With other teams also getting strong in this transfer market, it will be interesting to see what happens in the remaining days.
