Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami qualify for Semi-Finals of Leagues Cup 2023

Lionel Messi continues to create waves in Florida as Inter Miami have qualified for the Leagues Cup semi-final for the first time in their history. The arrival of Lionel Messi has totally turned around Inter Miami’s fortune upside down. Their current position is the farthest they have ever gotten and are now serious contenders to lift the Leagues Cup title.
Inter Miami qualified for the Leagues Cup Semi-final after a thumping 4-0 win over Charlotte FC at the DRV PNK stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Saturday.
Miami’s Martinez opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a penalty, after which Messi’s fellow winger Robert Taylor contributed with another goal in the 32nd minute thanks to a visionary midfield assist from Segio Busquets, the third goal was an own goal by Charlotte defender Adilson Malanda in the 78th minute. The 86th minute saw Lionel Messi add to his tally of goals after an assist from Robert Taylor in the box.
Lionel Messi has scored eight goals and has racked up three assists in his five appearances for Inter Miami. Just after five appearances, Lionel Messi is Inter Miami’s fourth highest record goal scorer.

It is widely believed that he will surpass fellow Argentine and former Inter Miami player Gonzalo Higuain as the top scorer for Inter Miami within the coming season. Higuain scored 29 goals during his time at Inter Miami.
Lionel Messi and Inter Miami will now face Philadelphia Union on 16th August in the Leagues Cup semi-final. The other semi final will take place on the same day between Nashville and Monterrey. The winners of both the games will meet in the Leagues Cup final on 19th August and the losers will compete with each other in a game to decide who will come in third place.
