Luciano Spalletti front-runner for Italy's football team head coach role

The Italian manager led Napoli to Serie A 2022-23 title
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Luciano Spalletti has been mentioned as the next head coach of Italy after reaching an agreement with the Italian FA. He is set to succeed Euro 2020 winner Roberto Mancini as the next Italian manager for the upcoming Euro 2024 next year.
It is also understood that the manager will sign a three-year contract and was the top choice to replace Mancini as the next manager of the national team after he led Napoli to the Scudetto.
Spalletti had multiple telephone conversations with the president of Italy’s FA federation, Gabriele Gravina, before he was named the manager of the team.
The 64-year-old will meet Gravina to complete the final details of the contract and might be appointed as Italy’s manager in the coming days.

Once Spalletti is appointed the next gaffer of the team, he will hold a press conference on Monday, which will start a new era in Italy after the Azzurri once again failed to reach the FIFA World Cup. Italy has been absent from the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.
However, they will participate in Euro 2024 and will hope to defend the title under a new manager with new players donning the Blues shirt.
Spalletti will be in the dugout for Italy’s first game against Northern Macedonia on September 9 and then welcome Ukraine to Milan three days later.
However, talks with the former Napoli manager have been tricky as his contract with the Serie A club, which ends in 2024, includes a provision that means he will have to pay 3 million euros ($3.3 million) if he wants to leave the club.
Meanwhile, Napoli have replaced their former manager with Rudd Garcia, who will be overseeing his first game against Frosinone at the Stadio Stirpe tomorrow, Saturday, August 19.
