Manchester City have signed another young talent to add depth to the already star-studded squad that Pep has. The 21-year-old Belgian has been recognised as one of the most talented young players in the world in his position. Jeremy Doku is a versatile winger who can play on either wing, which gives Manchester City an upper hand because combining Walker and Doku on the same flank can cause problems for defences.

Jeremy Doku is also known for his speed, creativity, and agility. Before signing for the Premier League champions, he was playing for Rennes in Ligue 1. The young Belgian signs a five-year deal at the Etihad after joining for a reported 55 million pounds. In terms of raw attributes, he has everything a winger needs.

Manchester City’s probable lineup with Jeremy Doku

3. Doku (RW) Haaland (ST) Jack Grealish (LW)

The initial lineup can best suit Pep’s style of play with the formation 4-3-3. The Belgian would be best utilised as a classic winger, where he can pose a threat down the flanks and offer support to Erling Haaland. The stakes are high for the youngster, as he will be surrounded by world-class players in their respective positions, which will build his confidence.

Kyle Walker and Jeremy Doku can be deadly on that right flank, with both having the attribute of speed in their gameplay. Doku can often cover up Walker when he is overlapping or making plays in the centre of the midfield.

2. Bernardo Silva (RW) Haaland (ST) Doku (LW)

In one of the likely lineups for City, it is expected that Pep will put Doku in the left-wing position because Silva is very comfortable playing that right-wing position and has a better understanding of their full-back Walker and Haaland as a striker. Silva and Haaland have contributed to goals that only De Bruyne and Haaland have achieved.

Putting Doku instead of Grealish shows Guardiola values versatile players, and the fact that Doku can play on any flank will be very useful. The right side is probably his easiest route to the team, but he could also be called upon to cover Grealish if he is unavailable in that left-wing position. He will join him and Cole Palmer in the winger ranks, while Foden and Bernardo could be called upon to play there as well.

1. Doku (RW) Haaland (ST) Foden (CAM) Grealish (LW)

Pep likes to play 4-2-3-1, which certainly suits his style of play and produces more effective results for him and his team; that’s the reason why he won the treble last season and has won the UEFA Super Cup with Manchester City. So, this attacking lineup would certainly be very interesting to watch as fans, and De Bruyne’s injury will allow Foden to adapt to that attacking midfield role.

Doku will have a job on his hands to get into the team over Bernardo Silva, but when every member of the squad is available, the 21-year-old should seamlessly slot in on the right side of the attack, where he plays the majority of his football.

The manager will likely be more concerned with how comfortable he is with the ball and how much work he puts in the press, helping his defence, than how exciting he is going forward. Going forward is one aspect of his game that is very interesting to watch.

In Ligue 1 this season, Doku played both matches before signing for City, and the youngster has already registered a goal in this new season. This will build a craze amongst fans, Pep, and all the pundits who will watch him play this season. It is expected that he will feature in the match against Sheffield United on Sunday.
