Newcastle United agree £28m deal to sign Lewis Hall from Chelsea
The young left-back recently signed six-year contract at Chelsea
Newcastle United reached an initial agreement with Chelsea to sign left-back Lewis Hall for £28m. The 18-year-old and the Blues recently reached an agreement in principle on a long-term contract extension.
Hall earned his debut in the Premier League for the Blues this past season and went on to rack up nine starts in the top tier. Hall has played for England’s U21 team.
Last Saturday, after Newcastle’s opening-day 5-1 triumph against Aston Villa, Eddie Howe informed Sky Sports that he was looking to add one more player before the transfer window closed.
Kieran Tierney, a fullback for Arsenal, is still a target for Newcastle.

The 26-year-old was not included in the starting eleven in the last match against Nottingham Forest, the first game of the new campaign.
An exit seems more plausible despite being granted access to joining the initial team at Stamford Bridge and accepting an additional deal that extends until 2030.
The reality that Hall spent up supporting Newcastle and is eager to play for Howe, with the possibility of playing frequently in the Champions League, helps Newcastle’s claim.
Since they were not trying to sell him, Chelsea were content for Hall to go out on loan this year, with Crystal Palace being a potential target. However, if Newcastle match their asking price, a permanent transfer will take place.
The England Under-21 international undoubtedly has a lot of potential, but the Blues would appear to be doing well by accepting at least £30 million for a player who has appeared in just a few of his debut games.
Left-back is Hall’s preferred place, and Chelsea have plenty of options in that area because of the presence of Marc Cucurella, Ian Maatsen, and Ben Chilwell in Mauricio Pochettino’s team.
