The French star will join a long list of injured United players

Raphael Varane reportedly faces an extended period of recovery after sustaining a knock versus Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Raphael Varane was removed at halftime as Manchester United were completely floored by Steve Cooper’s team, who led 2-1 at the break.

Even though Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes would score goals to finish off United’s revival in the closing minutes, Varane’s physical condition was still a concern after the match.

The Frenchman was replaced as a precaution, according to Erik ten Hag’s post-game assertion, but it now seems that Varane’s ailment may be more serious than initially believed.

Raphael Varane might miss up to six weeks, according to a report from Sky Sports.

According to the article, Varane’s forthcoming availability is another reason why Manchester United are reluctant to let Harry Maguire leave the team this summer.

The World Cup winner has started each of the club’s three Premier League games thus far this season, scoring the game-winning goal when his team defeated Wolves by a razor-thin margin on the opening weekend.

Due to Varane’s absence from Tuesday’s photos of practice, Ten Hag’s team will be without Mason Mount, Luke Shaw and Varane when they play United on Sunday.

Mount has been sidelined since suffering an injury in the team’s loss to Tottenham, but he is anticipated to make a full recovery after the end of the upcoming month’s international break.

While Shaw might not return until November, the team is looking for defensive reinforcements as Tyrell Malacia, the England international’s typical backup, is also injured and unable to play.
