Irrespective of how well he plays at Getafe, Mason Greenwood has been that he is unlikely to play for Manchester United anymore.

On transfer deadline day, the Red Devils felt it was ideal for Greenwood to "continue [his] career away from Old Trafford," and the 22-year-old signed with the La Liga team on a season-long loan.

After the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) dismissed accusations of attempted rape, using forceful or dominating conduct, and assault causing actual injury in February of this year, he had not played football since January 2022.

Greenwood has appeared in five appearances since moving to the Coliseum, netting the opening goal in Getafe's 2-2 draw with Celta Vigo prior to the break. The Sun reports that Greenwood is eager to make the switch enduring, despite the fact that Sevilla are reportedly interested in the attacker.

He won't be staying at Old Trafford, according to The Express. The leadership at United has made it clear that they see Greenwood taking a different route. Greenwood has nevertheless more than 18 months left on his contract with Manchester.

Instead, after speaking privately with the former England international Greenwood, the Red Devils have developed a number of initiatives for Greenwood to advance his career outside of Old Trafford. Greenwood, a product of the club's youth programme, scored 35 goals in 139 games for United.

Richard Arnold, the chief executive of United, gave an explanation of the club's decision-making process during a Fans' Forum last week.

"With Mason, as I am sure you can appreciate, this was an extremely difficult and complex situation," Arnold said.

"We conducted a detailed investigation over several months, considering all the evidence available. The evidence presented to us contained important facts that were not in the public domain. I made the ultimate decision as CEO that Mason's career should continue elsewhere.
