Odisha FC has achieved consecutive victories in the Indian Super League of the 2023-24 season. Following their triumph over Bengaluru FC, they secured another win against NorthEast United FC by scoring a solitary goal, ending the match with a score of 1-0 at the Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar. 

Diego Mauricio once again assumed leadership of the team and capitalized on Mirshad Michu’s errant pass to score the sole goal of the match. As a result of this victory, Odisha FC has ascended in the points table, accumulating three wins and a draw from their six matches.

In the post-match press conference, Sergio Lobera, the head coach of Odisha FC, appeared visibly delighted with the outcome. He said “The three points hold utmost significance in this context. In the first half, our team delivered an exceptional performance, exhibiting dominance on the field.

“We maintained possession of the ball and created numerous scoring opportunities for a second goal. Although we were unable to capitalize on those chances, the first-half display of my team was remarkably commendable. I am immensely pleased with their performance.”

“In the latter part of the match, we encountered significant challenges. Our opponent, a highly skilled team, executed their own strategies and exerted immense pressure on us. It is evident that fatigue crept in. Undoubtedly, we aspire for a stronger performance in the second half. Our focus now lies on refining our gameplay, particularly because we have a crucial AFC Cup match in three days”, he added. 

When asked about the tight schedule that the players are going through, Sergio replied in a positive tone, “It is imperative that we adhere to a rigorous schedule and strive for excellence. However, given the nature of this calendar, alterations are not feasible. My primary concern is to adopt a coach’s mentality in order to expedite the recovery of our players and ensure a strong “competitive performance.”

Within the span of four days, we have accumulated a total of six points, and it is my sincere hope that we can secure an additional three points in the upcoming game”, he added.
