All these Indian players have been a major force to deal with in this ISL.

The 2023-24 Indian Super League (ISL) has already produced a lot of thrilling action going into the November international break. With most teams having just played around five or six games, the majority of the campaign is yet to take place going forward.

There have been some impressive performers in the early part of the season. While teams have mostly been dependent on their foreign stars to score the goals, some Indian players have stepped up to take up the goal-scoring burden of respective teams.

There have been a few spectacular goals scored by Indian players, who have made their presence felt among the top-scorers so far. With that being said, let’s look at the top five Indian goal-scorers in the ISL 2023-24 campaign so far.

5. Naorem Mahesh Singh (East Bengal) – 2

Naorem Mahesh Singh has been one of the brightest aspects for East Bengal in their shaky start to the 2023-24 ISL campaign. He has featured in all five of their matches so far and played in both the wings for them.

Mahesh has scored two goals in five appearances, both of them coming in losing efforts to Bengaluru FC and FC Goa. However, Mahesh proved his quality with brilliant goals and has been one of the best Indian players so far in this campaign.

4. Jerry Mawihmingthanga (Odisha FC) – 2

Having found a second wind under manager Sergio Lobera, Jerry Mawihmingthanga has excelled with the freedom he has found in the attacking areas. He is now able to move into more goal-scoring positions than looking to just create chances, and has thrived in this role.

Jerry scored in both of Odisha FC’s first two games of the season against Chennaiyin FC and defending champions Mumbai City. He has also got an assist to his name (in the 3-2 win over Bengaluru), but his finishing ability has been showcased really well this season.

3. Sunil Chhetri (Bengaluru FC) – 2

Age is not holding back Sunil Chhetri from scoring. The 39-year-old has had a pretty solid start to the new campaign for Bengaluru FC, being quite the wily old clinical striker for them.

Chhetri scored his first goal of the campaign in the form of an ice-cold penalty against East Bengal and also netted a smart goal in the loss to Odisha FC. Chhetri is still being able to torment defenders with his clever movement and lethal finishing, and has been among one of the most prolific Indian players in this campaign so far.

2. Manvir Singh (Mohun Bagan) – 2

Manvir Singh has had an inspired start to the season for Mohun Bagan Super Giant, who are the only side to have won all their matches in the ISL 2023-24 season so far. Despite mostly playing in a wing-back role, Singh has been given the utmost freedom to roam into the box and has taken full advantage of that.

He has scored two goals in the wins over Punjab FC and Chennaiyin FC, as well as providing two assists in four appearances. He is flying high on confidence in the attacking areas and being a menace moving through that right wing.

1. Parthib Gogoi (NorthEast United) – 3

Parthib Gogoi has been THE breakout Indian talent of the 2023-24 ISL campaign and an inspired figure in NorthEast United’s attack. He has been spearheading their frontline with confidence, being a menace with his movement, dribbling ability and shooting accuracy.

Gogoi has scored three goals in six matches so far, with every single one being memorable strikes. He’s done so with only six shot attempts and had five out of those on target. Gogoi is currently the highest Indian goal-scorer in this ISL edition and going by his insane accuracy, he should score many more goals as the season moves along.
