Gavi could miss EURO 2024 due to ACL & meniscus injury injury

The Spanish midfielder will undergo surgery today
Barcelona have put out an update regarding Gavi’s injury, they have stated that the midfield player will have surgery to repair his torn ACL.
Gavi sustained an injury on Sunday when representing Spain versus Georgia, and it has since been revealed that he will miss a significant amount of time recovering.
Barcelona’s official statement is as follows:
“Tests carried out on Monday morning on the first team player Gavi have shown that he has a complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and an associated injury to the lateral meniscus. The player will have surgery in the coming days after which a new medical update will be released.”
The injury is a severe setback for Gavi, Barcelona, and the Spanish nation. The 19-year-old is a vital member of Xavi’s squad and is well-liked by both the team and the supporters of the side. He is expected to miss the next seven to nine months.

After just 26 minutes, the 19-year-old was replaced because he was holding his knee. As Spain’s medical staff assisted him off the field, he started crying.
Luis de la Fuente’s squad won the game 3-1 without him. Early signs point to an ACL rupture, according to Diario AS, which would require six to eight months of rest before he could return to the pitch and abruptly end his season.
At such a young age, Gavi has already established himself as a vital member of the team and nation. He has made nearly 100 appearances for Barca previously, and he has participated in every La Liga match this year but one, due to a suspension. Xavi’s plans at Camp Nou will be severely damaged by the news of such an injury.
In his 26 appearances for Spain, the young player has scored five goals since making his debut in 2021. Spain has already qualified for the 2024 Summer Olympics, but his availability for that team may now be questioned because of a possible ACL injury.
Gavi is so important that Barcelona will be crossing its fingers for the test findings. According to AS, he will have an MRI scan within the next 24 hours to determine the exact degree of his injuries.
This weekend, the Blaugrana will play Rayo Vallecano, but it appears that Gavi will be absent from the game for a long time due to injury.
